These innovations are designed to support the global shift towards CO2-neutral mobility and reduce environmental and air pollution.

Blue.ion electrified cabin air filter

Hengst introduces the Blue.ion cabin air filter, which combines ionisation and polarisation to enhance air filtration. The system electrostatically charges particles in the air, making them easier to capture in the filter. Unlike traditional ionisation methods, which can lose effectiveness over time, the Blue.ion maintains a high separation rate throughout its service life due to its polarisation feature. This technology ensures maximum protection against pollutants, viruses, and allergens, contributing to a healthier vehicle interior. Despite its advanced capabilities, the Blue.ion is compact, energy-efficient, and operates with low noise emissions.

Fuel filtration solutions for alternative fuels

As the transportation sector moves towards defossilisation, a diverse mix of drive and fuel concepts is required. Hengst's Blue.maxx fuel filter system is adaptable for various fuels, including synthetic e-fuels, hydrogen, and biofuels like hydrogenated vegetable oils (HVO) and fatty acid methyl esters (FAME). The modular design of Blue.maxx allows it to be customised for different applications, whether as an original equipment or retrofit solution. The system's flexible configuration supports single or multi-layer filtration elements, ensuring compatibility with current and future fuel types.

Advanced filtration for hydrogen engines and fuel cells

Hengst is also addressing the unique challenges of hydrogen-powered engines and fuel cells. For hydrogen combustion engines, Hengst offers specially designed synthetic filter elements and sealing materials to manage the potential accumulation of water in engine oil and the flammability of hydrogen. An innovative active ventilation system minimizes hydrogen concentration in the crankcase, reducing the risk of ignition. Additionally, the Blue.tron disk separator is part of Hengst's comprehensive filter concept for hydrogen engines.

In fuel cell applications, the Blue.iox ion exchanger ensures safe operation by filtering out ions that accumulate in the coolant over time. Its unique design offers high filtration efficiency with minimal maintenance. Hengst's Blue.netic cathode air filter system protects fuel cells from harmful particles and gases, extending their service life and performance. The company also provides system integration solutions, including a water separator for anode gas recirculation with an innovative valve configuration.
