The American Filtration and Separations Society (AFS), organiser of the 13th World Filtration Congress (WFC13), has announced that Dr Roger Ben Aim, from the University of Montpellier, will present a keynote lecture at WFC13 entitled Deep Bed Filtration vs Membrane Separation: Competition or Synergy.

WFC13 will take place from 20-24 April 2020 in San Diego, California and the conference, which is held once every four years, aimsto foster a forum for scientists, engineers and practitioners around the world working on filtration and separation to meet and share the latest advances and technologies.

Dr Ben Aim will discuss how membrane separation, which was initially introduced as a finishing step in drinking water production, now has the potential to replace deep bed filtration. He will also consider how water treatment needs have changed in recent years and the effectiveness of combining adsorption, deep bed filtration and membrane separation.
