The deal struck with Cardinal Contractors, part of the East Construction Services segment, will see the construction of new pre-treatment facilities to improve the quality and efficiency of the existing membrane filtration system at the plant in Abilene, Texas.
A new parallel membrane filtration system will also be installed with additional improvements made to the raw water delivery and chemical feed systems.
These modifications will take the facility from its current capacity of six million gallons per day (MGD) to about 12 MGD of clean potable water for the residents and business of Abilene.
The project scope includes approximately 3,600 cubic yards of concrete, approximately 10,000 cubic yards of structural excavation and nearly 11,000 ft of underground piping.
The work is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2015 with completion due in the second quarter of 2016.
