Integration of LP EGR filters with 3D Volumetric Mesh in mass production

Growth in world automotive markets and the increasing stringency of pollutant emission thresholds are intensifying the pressure on manufacturers to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The Euro 6 exhaust emission standard includes tighter EU legislation and requires further substantial reductions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate emissions for petrol engines.

Key technology for reducing fuel consumption and emissions is exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). In low pressure exhaust gas recirculation systems (LP EGR), which extract exhaust gas downstream of the particulate filter and recirculate it to the engine upstream of the compressor,

EGR filters in function of policing filters ensure that no particles from the combustion process or the particulate filter get into the turbocharger or the engine. In addition to reliable particle retention, another core requirement of such filters is that they have the lowest possible pressure loss.

The two manufacturers made their first appearance together at the CTI Conference on exhaust systems in Mainz.
