IDA postpones World Congress until 2022

The 2022 IDA World Congress and Exhibition will provide knowledge-sharing and interaction for participants related to the use of desalination and water reuse solutions.

After close consultation with its Australian government partners, the International Desalination Association (IDA) has decided to postpone the 2021 IDA World Congress, which was originally scheduled for 7–11 November 2021 to 29 May–2 June. 2022, to ensure an in-person event and protect health and safety.

As a result, the IDA has modified the extended abstract submission deadline to 15 September 2021. The Congress will take place, as before in Sydney, Australia, at the International Convention Center Sydney (ICC Sydney. The 2022 IDA World Congress and Exhibition will provide knowledge-sharing and interaction for participants on a plethora of both technical and business topics, related to the use of desalination and water reuse solutions to ensure a secure water future.  Shannon McCarthy, IDA secretary general, said:  "While we are disappointed to make this announcement, providing a safe in-person event for all delegates and ensuring the invaluable scientific and business engagement is of utmost importance to the IDA. The IDA would like to thank the Australian and New South Wales governments for their support and guidance in this decision to postpone the event to 2022.”
