The product has been recognised as effective in the reduction and control of waterborne coliform bacteria in multiple applications. It kills the bacteria as the organisms physically move over the hostile surface of filter media granules while avoiding the formation of destructive disinfection byproducts.
According to A S Filtration, Pathex is currently the only water filter media registered with EPA as a pesticide and classified as a new use of an active ingredient, while also holding certification to NSF/ANSI Standard 61 for drinking water system components. The filter media is stable, non-toxic, non-leaching, non-corrosive, not consumed with use, requires no power source for efficacy and is not affected by temperature changes.
It is suitable for managing stormwater effluent, as well as industrial applications like recirculating cooling towers, heat transfer systems, service water and auxiliary systems and municipal wastewater treatment.
