The Imbirussu wastewater treatment plant, which will serve 60 000 people, is currently under construction in Campo Grande in the Mato Grosso state.
The contract was awarded by Aguas Guariroba, part of the EQUIPAV Group. Aguas Guariroba has invested more than US$7million in the new wastewater treatment plant.
“Xylem’s Sanitaire ICEAS solution is proving very popular in this region due to its energy efficiency and compact footprint. As urban populations expand across Latin America, wastewater treatment is becoming an increasingly important issue for public health and safety,” said Richard Dixon, managing director, Xylem Latin America.
Xylem has installed more than 90 000 Sanitaire diffusers in Brazil to date, and is developing new and upgrading existing wastewater treatment systems throughout the country.
The Imbirussu project is part of Aguas Guariroba’s US$28 million investment plan to deploy 139km of new sewerage networks in the Campo Grande region, to reach 70% of households by mid-2013.
