Water stewardship advocate Robert Kennedy Jr among WEFTEC speakers

High profile speakers at WEFTEC 2013 include Illinois Governor Pat Quinn, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel,and Advocate for Water Stewardship Robert Kennedy, Jr.

The line-up of high profile national and international speakers have been confirmed to headline some of the most highly anticipated events of the event, the Water Environment Federation’s 86th Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference which will be held during October 5-9, 2013 at McCormick Place,Chicago.

On Monday, October 7 there will be an Opening General Session, featuring a special welcome from Pat Quinn, Governor of Illinois and a keynote speech by best-selling author, speaker and “agent for social change” Kevin Carroll.

Rahm Emanuel, mayor of Chicago, as well as Heiner Markhoff, President and CEO, GE Water & Process Technologies Chew Men Leong, Chief Executive, PUB Singapore Sue Murphy, Chief Executive Officer, Water Corporation of Western Australia, will feature in Water Leaders Session: “The Future of Cities and Water: Insights from Great Water Cities”.

On Tuesday, October 8 Governor Quinn will officially open the Global Center, followed by a special presentation from Robert Kennedy, Jr., who will speak about the importance of nutrient removal and recovery. 

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago President Kathleen Meany will also be on-hand to discuss the planned 2015 launch of the world’s largest nutrient recovery facility, which will be built at Chicago’s Stickney Wastewater Treatment Plant.
