SSB, an international supplier for the biopharmaceutical industry, says the smart and easy benchtop system can be used in many downstream processes, such as purification of vaccines, monoclonal antibodies and recombinant proteins. The system is suitable for flexible use in laboratory environments for process development and clinical trials, as well as for cGMP environments. The system is equipped with a low shear 4-piston membrane pump that SSB says enables highest product yields to be achieved. In addition, the pump provides a wide range of flow rates allowing a choice between membrane surface areas from 50 cm² to as much as 0.14 m². The crossflow system is supplied with SSB’s DCU-4 control unit, which, when combined with the company’s BioPAT SCADA, MFCS-4 software, provides data logging and export. Its touchscreen offers instant access to all critical process parameters and displays control and alarm functions. An optional peristaltic diafiltration pump is available to load product or buffer as a discrete process step. Furthermore, several options are available to customize the system according to specific requirements. For example, a conductivity, pH or temperature probe can be installed in the recirculation vessel. The system can also be upgraded in the case of changing process requirements.
