The intensive, day-long course will be organised into half-day sessions taught by some of the world’s leading experts in desalination technologies. The first half-day will cover membrane processes, while afternoon sessions will address thermal processes. In addition to the full day of training, which runs from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, the IDA Desalination Academy is arranging for a complimentary, behind-the-scenes plant visit on December 6.The Membrane Technologies sessions will be conducted by Master Teachers of the Academy. Reverse and Forward Osmosis – Understanding and Control of Biofilm Formation will be presented by Professor Harvey Winters, Visiting Professor at Nanyang Technical University in Singapore, Research Associate Scientist at KAUST in Saudi Arabia, and Professor Emeritus at Fairleigh Dickinson University, USA. Design and Operation of Reverse Osmosis Plants in the Gulf is the subject for Nikolay Voutchkov, President, Water Globe Consulting, LLC, USAThe sessions on Thermal Processes will be conducted by invited lecturers of the Academy. These include Dr. Roberto Borsani, Director of Desalination, FISIA Italimpianti, Italy, on Advances in Multistage Flash Process (MSF), as well as Vincent Baujat, Managing Director, SIDEM, France, discussing Design and Operation of Multi-Effect Distillation Technology (MED).
