H2O develops chemical pre-treatment for RO

SpectraGuard from H2O Innovation Inc’s Professional Water Technologies has been developed to provide a higher level of control over inorganic and colloidal species in water reclamation plants and brackish water reverse osmosis (RO) plants.

The antiscalant formula uses the company’s patent pending dendriplex technology and a blend of phosphonates. The antiscalant can protect against fouling by inorganic species such as carbonate and sulphate scales, silica, and metal hydroxides. It has a stable molecular structure which allows it to work in high pH, high temperature and high salinity applications. SpectraGuard 350 is also able to work in an environment with higher levels of colloidal foulants, such as water reclamation plants and brackish water reverse osmosis plants. It is low phosphate.

The antiscalant is compatible with all membrane types and system components and has been recently certified for use by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) to ANSI/NSF Standard 60.

Professional Water Technologies launched SpectraGuard 350 during the 2012 Membrane Technology Conference, which took place in Glendale, AZ, USA from 27 February to 1 March.
