Croft Filters manager wins Made in Britain Photography Award

Manufacturer Croft Filters is celebrating after sales and marketing manager, Rob Watkins, triumphed at this year’s Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF) Made in Britain Photography Awards.

Mr Wakins was awarded the top prize in the Amateur Mobile category at a glittering ceremony at the House of Commons last Monday [9 December].

His photo, which was taken on a smartphone at Croft’s factory in Warrington, captured an engineer meticulously welding together the flange of a perforated steel filter.Commended for providing a striking example of the creative capabilities of smart devices, the judges praised Rob for a strong composition that highlighted the texture of the filter’s steel.

This is the second consecutive year that Rob has been recognised at the awards, which celebrate iconic images that showcase the vibrancy and ingenuity of British manufacturing, having previously come first in the Best Photograph by an Amateur Photographer category in 2012

.Mr Watkins said: “Having been shortlisted alongside such brilliant images of British manufacturing, it’s a fantastic feeling to have won. I aimed to capture the intricacies of Croft’s filtration designs and it is wonderful that the judges have recognised this detail within the image.”Neil Burns, director at Croft Filters, added: “We’re incredibly proud of Rob. To win this prestigious award once is a significant achievement, but to win twice in a row is testament to Rob’s incredible talent as a photographer.”
