American Water wins residential wastewater contracts in Massachusetts

A US$734 000 contract from Abbot Mill LLC is for an onsite wastewater treatment system in the newly renovated Abbot Mill complex in Westford. With no public sewer system in the area, Applied Water Management will design, build and operate an onsite wastewater treatment facility to serve the development. A membrane bioreactor plant is being designed to produce a high-quality effluent that meets all Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection requirements for groundwater recharge.

Under a US$586 000 contract with Highland Meadows Development LLC, Applied Water Management will design, build and operate an onsite wastewater treatment facility for the Highland Meadows housing development in Holliston. Applied Water Management built and began operating an onsite community septic system in 2010, but a recent increase in the number of home sales in the development has created a need for an expanded treatment facility. The company is now constructing a planned upgrade to include a membrane bioreactor treatment plant, which will provide high-quality effluent for groundwater recharge. The project will be completed by the end of 2011.
