The WEF submission deadline for the request for proposals is 5 pm EDT, 27 July 2011.
This is due, the WEF says, to an increased focus on wastewater, biosolids and biogas as future energy sources that could reshape trends in the US and beyond. To realise the benefits renewable energy as a whole, new technologies must be further developed and applied widely to provide clean, reliable, affordable energy on a much larger scale.
With its call for proposals, the organisation wants to assess the current and potential use of biogas from WWTPs for energy production, and identify opportunities of supporting expanded biogas use through WEF’s core focus areas. The final report, called Preparation of Baseline of the Current and Potential Use of Biogas from Anaerobic Digestion at Wastewater Treatment Plants will provide information to help improve the development of programmes, technology, and policy to encourage biogas production from anaerobic digestion.
Interested parties may submit a proposal that includes a description of the proposed technical approach, qualifications and experience, as well as a detailed cost proposal.
