WFI says the name change reflects the growing reach and mission of an organization that seeks to address some of the greatest global challenges of our time, through the advancement of filtration. These challenges include climate change, urbanization, human migration and decarbonization.
The name change also reflects the growth and composition of the organization itself, as it has expanded from a small group of committed industry activists to a worldwide organization with members from five continents and over 20 countries and students from more than 30 countries.
The Waterloo Filtration Institute was named for the venue where the organization was founded – Waterloo in Canada. This name has honored the origins of the organization, and the new name will honor the scope of WFI’s ambition.
The WFI will make the change official at its annual conference in December. The abbreviation WFI and logo remain the same.
