Siemens Water Technologies have received a contract from Wuxi Water Supply General Company in China’s Eastern Jiangsu Province to supply a turnkey water treatment solution for Wuxi Zhongqiao Water Supply Co., Ltd.
Using Siemen's Memcor ultra filtration membrane system, the drinking water plant will produce 150,000 m3 of high quality drinking water per day, making it one of the largest membrane-based drinking-water treatment projects in China. It is thought that the plant will start working from the beginning of 2010.
“This project demonstrates Siemens’ capabilities to provide solutions that meet the need of cost effective and reliable technologies in China,” says Henrik Alt, responsible for Siemens Water Technologies' China business. “This project will make an important contribution to further improve drinking water quality for Wuxi´s citizens”.
The Memcor ultra filtration membranes provided by Siemens have a physical barrier to remove suspended solids, microbes, bacteria, viruses asity without the need for chemical pretreatment. The membrane system produces consistent water quality with a compact environmental footprint, while offering cost competitiveness compared to more traditional methods of treatment.
As one of the two tap water resources of Wuxi city, Taihu Lake has long suffered from discharge of industrial and municipal wastewater. The holistic solution from Siemens Water Technologies will make a strong contribution to improving the quality of life for Wuxi citizens by improving the quality and reliability of tap water.
