Sartorius Stedim Biotech (SSB) and French life science company Novasep have entered into a collaboration agreement to develop chromatography and single-use bioprocessing.
Novasep provides products and specialised technology to the life science industry and is a system provider with expertise in the design, manufacture and control of resin-based batch and continuous chromatography systems.
Novasep’s BioSC platform and SSB’s single use technology will form the basis for the development of new membrane chromatography systems. Systems currently on the market are designed for resins, but do not take full advantage of membrane chromatography capabilities.
Optimally-run membrane chromatography processes provide an alternative to batch and continuous resin-based chromatography which, the company says, offers higher productivity, smaller scale operations and increased strength.
Systems designed for membrane chromatography applications are a part of SSB’s global product strategy to supply complete solutions for upstream and downstream processing in life sciences. Nadège Laborde, president of Process Solutions at Novasep, commented: “This collaboration is a wonderful opportunity for Novasep and Sartorius Stedim Biotech, as it leverages the core capabilities of the two companies.”
