Mahle’s industrial filtration business segment employs about 900 people worldwide, with around 410 of these working in Öhringen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
Industrial filtration products are outside Mahle’s core business which focuses primarily on the automotive industry.
“In Filtration Group, we are pleased to have found a buyer that, thanks to its expertise and size, is in a position to give the industrial filtration business a boost,” said Wolf-Henning Scheider, chairman of the Mahle management board and CEO.
Chicago, USA-headquartered Filtration Group already includes AG Industries, Air System Products, Buffalo Filter, Clear Edge Filtration, Filtrair, Filtran, Global Filter, IBS Filtran, Jonell, Kaydon, Porex, Purafil, Universal Air Filter, Waco and Zinga.
“Mahle’s industrial filtration business will greatly expand Filtration Group’s product portfolio and customer base,” said Steve Felice, CEO of Filtration Group. “We are extremely pleased with the know-how and expertise of the workforce that has built a truly remarkable business.”
The 370 employees at the Öhringen site who work for Mahle’s automotive Filtration and Engine Peripherals business unit, are unaffected by the sale.
The transaction is subject to approval by the antitrust authorities.
