The Schenck Process filters are used as the dust suppression and extraction unit which forms part of the Dust Free Pan Mixer system. FoundOcean’s Pan Mixer mixes high strength grout which is typically used during the installation phase of offshore wind farm foundations, and to repair and strengthen ageing structures. The mixer is loaded with bags of cement which can potentially give off dust when they are split. Finding a solution to suppress and extract the dust was critical to the company’s service offering to renewables clients. The selection of the most appropriate size and configuration of air filter is important to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of the mixer in the harsh offshore environment. Schenck Process has developed its range of industrial air filtration products to meet the demanding conditions of the offshore industry. Included within that range of products are dust filters that are suitable for low, medium and high air flow volumes, available in four formats and offered with a choice of bag or cartridge filter media. The dust filters can be installed as stand-alone units or in combination with other components as part of an installation system.Part of the range is the MCF Powersaver Dust Filter that can save up to 50% of operational costs by using medium pressure air at 0.5 bar for the cleaning cycle. This allows the filter to operate using less than half the energy of a traditional reverse jet filter, plus there is the added benefit that no plant compressed air is used, potentially freeing up the valuable air for other applications. The Schenck Process Group acquired Clyde Process Solutions, including MAC Equipment Inc, in early 2011. In the UK, Clyde Process, Redler and Schenck Process are now all based at the one facility in Doncaster.
