Responding to increasing industrial filtration demand, Ahlstrom-Munksjö is investing about €28 million in its Filtration and Performance business area to expand manufacturing capacity as well as product capabilities.
“This investment will enable us to create additional capacity in Turin, Italy, and will allow us to support growing demand for high-end filtration materials,” said Fulvio Capussotti, executive vice president of Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s Filtration and Performance business area. “Turin is already Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s largest plant globally and this investment will further consolidate our position as one of the leading global platforms for high-performance filtration material development and production.”
The investment also includes the rebuilding and modification of Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s existing plants in Malmedy, Belgium and in Ställdalen, Sweden.
“We see an opportunity to use the remaining capacity of these two plants to develop unique filtration solutions for industrial applications, without affecting our ability to serve and support our existing customers at these plants,” said Capussotti.
The investment project will start this year and is expected to be completed during the first half of 2020.
Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s Filtration and Performance business area develops and produces filtration materials for transportation as well as industrial applications. It also produces glass fiber for flooring products and wind turbine blades and makes nonwoven materials for automotive, construction, textile and hygiene applications and wallcover materials.
