In preparation for Filtrex 2019, taking place in Berlin, Germany from 14-15 May, Gil Stevens, EDANA’s sustainability director, spoke to Stefan Berbner, CEO at American Air Filter (AAF) Europe, to discuss the coming revolution in the air filtration industry.

Stefan Berbner said he saw plenty of opportunities in terms of indoor air quality, primarily due to the alarming increase in air pollution around the world, with more than 2 billion children now living in cities where air pollution exceeds World Health Organisation limits.

Berbner believes that trends such as urbanisation, industrialisation and the proliferation of smart technology will drive an increased global demand for filtration products. Future business strategies will be tech driven and tougher legislation will have an impact on standards and testing but will also be a driver for innovation.

Berbner was asked whether considerations of more sustainable practices had affected his company’s planning, sourcing or production processes. He acknowledged the sustainability is key for AAF, with a focus on lowest cost of ownership and low CO2 footprint for all its customers.

Stefan Berbner is a keynote speaker at Filtrex, opening the second day’s proceedings. The full interview can be found here
