The OTV contracts are in partnership with civil contractor AG Araja Construction, and will be built in the municipalities of San Antonio and Del Monte, based in the Metro Manila area, a region that includes 16 cities around the capital of Manila.
Maynilad is the water and wastewater services provider for the 17 cities and municipalities that comprise the West Zone of the greater Metro Manila area. Due to limited available space at the sites, Maynilad was looking for a compact solution and chose Veolia’s patented AnoxKaldnes™ MBBR process.
In the project, OTV will provide the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of the two sewage treatment plants, including liquid treatment stream, sludge handling facilities, odour control and treatment, and treated effluent discharge. The San Antonio sewage treatment plant is planned to have capacities of 3,300 m³/day while the Del Monte sewage treatment plant will have a capacity of 3,500 m³/day. Each facility will include a new inlet plant, preliminary treatment and AnoxKaldnes MBBR biological treatment as the core treatment process along with UV disinfection for the wastewater treatment line and an odour treatment system and noise abatement measures.
The two new wastewater treatment plants are scheduled to be commissioned in 2012, with OTV operating both plants for the first year after the completion of construction.
