The new technology reduces the risk of contamination in membrane elements and decreases production losses.

For the last 18 months, GE has been developing and qualifying various combinations of polymers, backings and adhesives to arrive at a combination that is more robust, eliminating an industry problem that has been around for more than 20 years.

The blister-free sanitary element is currently being incorporated into GE’s complete dairy element product line. The company says it will benefit dairy operations in many ways. They include better operation running at high dairy solids, reducing the risk of SPC or APC bacteria contamination and improving the longevity of element life by reducing glue lines failures and mandatory change-outs due to regulatory inspection.
