Mann+Hummel invests in sixth plant in China

The Chongqing facility is Mann+Hummel’s sixth production plant in China. The German company already has manufacturing operations in Shanghai, Changchun, Jinan, Liuzhou and Bengbu.

The new 10 000 sq m plant, which started production in June, mainly manufactures intake manifolds, air filter systems including ducts for passenger vehicle manufacturers. Annual output is expected to reach two million units.

“The completion of the Chongqing plant is a significant milestone for Mann+Hummel to further grow our OEM business with vehicle manufacturers based in Southwestern China. Chongqing is among the top automotive clusters in China and we need to be there to make our leading filtration technology accessible to our global and local key customers that have set up a production base in or near Chongqing,” said Josef Parzhuber, Mann+Hummel’s group vice president and CEO for Asia-Pacific.

The Chinese market contributes more than 10% of Mann+Hummel’s global business.

Mann+Hummel has also acquired a local filter manufacturer in Bengbu to serve the replacement market with an affordable filter program in aftermarket specification under the local Haoye brand.
