The Triplex Skid is designed for deck-side offshore and onshore applications, processing various aqueous and chemical waste fluids with absolute-rated performance ranging from 1µ to 70µ.

3M says that during the demonstration the Triplex skid’s unique three-pot system showed measured improvement over the industry standard two-pot method in handling heavily contaminated barite solution from a typically challenging fluid recovery application. This success has led to further trials offshore.

The demonstration took place during a customer open day hosted by The Fluid Control Group, an authorised distributor of 3M’s range of O&G filtrations systems in Norway. A Triplex Skid was operated under controlled conditions, monitored by 3M’s Cuno Scientific Application Support Services technicians to ensure accurate measurement of filter efficiencies of the Cuno High-Flow Filtration system.

Oistein Tomte, the Fluid Control Group’s marketing manager, said: “After witnessing the demonstration, further trials have been booked for deck-side filtration of pit clean-ups to confirm the benefits of using the Triplex system to remove the contaminants from the waste fluid offshore. At present the waste fluid is transported onshore for processing. Changing to offshore filtration of the pit clean-up waste fluids will mean the downstream clean filtered fluid is ready for re-use or in the case of seawater, disposal overboard. And with the contaminate stored in the used cartridges the waste is easier to handle and requires less frequent transportation for onshore disposal.”
