The Oenofine XL system uses Pall’s hollow fibre filtration technology and a proprietary stabilization agent to combine two critical production steps into a single, cost-saving process. The Pall system eliminates the need for separate protein stabilization and product clarification by dosing activated bentonite directly into the filtration process, upstream of the filter modules.

Combining the stabilization and clarification steps accelerates production turn-around by eliminating the settling time required by traditional, separate bentonite dosing (fining); improves product yield by reducing normal sediment (lees) volume; and increases production efficiency. In addition, Pall’s streamlined filtration system reduces the consumption of water and energy, as well as the use of cleaning agents, thereby improving environmental impact and reducing associated costs.

Nicole Madrid, global marketing leader, Wine and Spirits, said: “Traditional processes are typically carried out in consecutive steps, adding labour, time and waste to the wine-making process. The Pall Oenofine XL filtration system accelerates production, reduces bentonite consumption, increases production capacity and profit margins for wine producers.”
