H2O Innovation obtains patent for maple sap process

The Super-Concentrator, the High Brix Supra as well as the High Brix Econox are all using the patented high concentration maple sap process.

H2O Innovation has put its knowledge of membrane filtration to the use of maple producers and is now offering a complete line of the latest maple farm equipment. The system and process of producing maple syrup allows the producer to concentrate the maple sap between 30 and 45º Brix using membrane filtration.

By substantially increasing the sugar concentration level, the quantity of water to be evaporated is significantly reduced, resulting in a significant decrease in energy requirements for evaporation. The boiling phase, which is the last production phase, allows the producer to cook the syrup to their desired colour and taste and to improve the product’s classification.

This patented system is placed upstream from an evaporation process and the concentration process is designed for all system sizes allowing for improved energy and production efficiency as well as a continuity in the quality of the maple syrup produced. This technology has already been sold to more than 15 sugar bushes in North America in the last two years.
