LG Chem to provide RO membranes for Egypt’s largest seawater desalination plant

The desalination plant, which is the largest in Egypt, will be able to provide fresh water to about 2 million people per day.

LG Chem is scheduled to start supplying the RO membranes later this year.

LG Chem is growing its presence in the industrial RO membrane market. Last year, Sohar SWRO selected LG Water Solutions to supply its high rejection NanoH2O seawater reverse osmosis (RO) membranes for the Sohar desalination plant in Oman. The company has also provided products to KEPCO in Korea, the Shoaiba power plant in Saudi Arabia, Brazil's Petrobras, and a wastewater treatment plant in Scottsdale, Arizona, USA.

“We will provide our global customers with differentiated values by utilizing our worldwide sales and technical support network of more than 16 countries. We will also take the initiative in the global market leadership with bold and proactive investments,” said Cheoldong Jeong, president of LG Chem’s IT&E Materials Co.

LG Chem says that sales of its residential RO membranes are increasing particularly in China, India and the Middle East. Earlier this month, LG Chem unveiled a number of new products at Aquatech China 2017.
