Manila, Philippines - site of a new microfiltration/reverse osmosis plant designed and installed by Pall Corporation.

The project was awarded by Maynilad Water Services Inc and is worth US$14.7 million. The 100 MLD (million litres per day) project will be the Philippines’ first large-scale membrane filtration plant and will serve one of the most populous regions in south-east Asia.

Pall will design and install the project, and provide management of the plant after opening, which is expected to be 2010. The low maintenance, energy efficient water desalination system will use microfiltration and reverse osmosis membrane technologies in order to process brackish water from Laguna de Bay lake, which is subject to seawater ingress and algae blooms. A new concrete intake system will also be built to divert water from the lake to the Pall plant.

Pall will also open a subsidiary office in Manila to assist with customer support and training needed for the smooth operation of the new membrane filtration plant.
