The National Graphene Institute.

The video includes material provided by The University of Manchester, in particular an interesting introduction to graphene, the most exciting material of the 21st century, its almost limitless potential and the excellent research facility that is the National Graphene Institute.

Graphene is only a single molecule thick and research at this level requires water of ultimate purity – well in advance of the current highest standards for semiconductor work. The video takes a tour of Veolia’s water purification and distribution systems in the 1,500 m2 of class 100 and 1000 cleanrooms and laboratory areas, and explains the engineering behind them.

The building services contract was executed by Balfour Beatty Engineering Services. In the video, Gabriel Bennett, Balfour Beatty’s project manager, explains why they chose Veolia and how the design teams worked together, using the latest project management techniques, to win a prestigious award.
