Aquaporin has expanded its space activities by joining the Danish interdisciplinary partnership Space Exploration Danmark to promote manned and unmanned space exploration by Denmark between 2020 and 2022.

The company has been heavily involved in developing solutions for space since the establishment of the Aquaporin Space Alliance, a joint venture with Danish Aerospace Company ApS in 2013. Aquaporin’s focus has been on finding the best solutions for reusing as much water as possible in space using its Aquaporin Inside technology in space applications and space programmes.

The company says it has joined Space Exploration Danmark so that it can broaden and share its knowledge with other stakeholders. There are currently 21 different participants in the partnership, including astronauts, researchers, universities and privately-owned companies, all seeking to improve Denmark’s contributions to the international programmes at space stations and missions to Mars and the Moon.

A total of eight goals have been defined for the partnership. To achieve these, the focus will be on knowledge sharing, dissemination and education, as well as common idea development, advice and international co-operation.
