Porvair Sciences is reporting increased demand for it 3D moulded intake filters and vent diffusers supplied to GCE Healthcare, the manufacturer of the Zen-O lite portable oxygen concentrator for active people suffering from respiratory conditions such as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

Alan Hughes, Porous Plastics Accounts manager for Porvair Sciences, said: "The air intake filter we supply for the Zen-O lite device eliminates blockages and ensures that there is a flow of oxygen to the required specifications.” He added that Vyon porous plastics are suitable for gas filtration as they ensure high levels of depth filtration and the company’s materials are also effective at bacterial filtration and preventing microbial ingress. Vyon is a versatile porous plastic which can be modified to give it hydrophilic or hydrophobic properties, or enhanced to achieve specific chemical and biochemical separations.  Vyon can also be combined with other materials to create a composite product. These properties mean that Vyon is often chosen when porous plastic is required for medical devices or by healthcare companies looking to produce drug filters, vents for catheters and medical fluid collection vessels.
