Xylem appoints new MD for India

Bala joins Xylem from General Electric, where he spent more than 15 years, most recently as business director of the company’s locomotive projects business.

Before that, he was CEO of GE Water Process and Technologies, South Asia.

Bala replaces Sam Yamdagni, who is leaving Xylem.

“Bala’s extensive global operations expertise and his success in growing GE’s water business in India fit perfectly with our need to develop further in this important growth market,” said Steve Loranger, CEO and president of Xylem Inc. “We will look to him to build on the foundation we’ve established, leveraging our talented team to help our existing and new customers in India solve their most challenging water issues.”

Xylem employs 200 people in India, and operates a manufacturing and testing facility as well as a research, development and engineering centre in Vadodara. The company also has sales and service facilities in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune.
