Waterplus has launched its OxiPlus75 media, an NSF-61 approved media with manganese dioxide as an oxidation catalyst. This media is very effective at removing these impurities. It promotes oxidation and precipitation of iron and manganese without the need for the addition of permanganate or the need for a contact basin for contaminant reaction time.
This media has been included in the design of water treatment systems for two US projects currently under construction; the village of Random Lake, Wisconsin and the town of Greenville, Wisconsin. These projects utilize surface loading rates in the range of 6-9 gpm per square feet of filter area allowing for both compact and economical automated potable water treatment plants.
