United Envirotech to acquire, upgrade and expand Chinese wastewater treatment plant

Hong Wei is an important industrial district and United Envirotech has been providing operation and maintenance (O&M) service to its wastewater treatment plant since 2010. The plant now needs to be upgraded and expanded.

Under the terms of the agreement, United Envirotech will acquire the existing 15 000 m3/day treatment plant for RMB25 million and will upgrade the plant using its advance Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology.

The BOT project involves adding an additional 45 000 m3/day of treatment capacity. When completed, the plant will treat 30 000 m3/day of municipal wastewater and 30 000 m3/day of industrial wastewater. The upgrade work will start immediately and is expected to be completed by September 2014. Work on the expansion is expected to begin early next year and will take 12 months to complete.

Dr Lin Yucheng, chairman and CEO of United Envirotech, said: “The macro environment is very favourable to the water industry in China. Fast industrialization and urbanization, the commitment by the Chinese government to clean up the environment and the strong enforcement of more stringent discharge standards all provide strong impetus for the growing demand of water treatment solution. We believe with our technology, capital and established track record, we are well positioned to grow in tandem with the Chinese water market.”
