RWL Water completes Acquavit acquisition

Established in 2003 and headquartered in Jundiaí, São Paulo, Acquavit delivers water and wastewater treatment projects to industrial and municipal clients. The company has expertise in advanced oxidation, disinfection processes, membrane systems, ion exchange systems, water and wastewater treatment units, and water reuse systems.

Acquavit has been renamed RWL Water Brasil.

RWL Water says that the acquisition reinforces its strategy to further expand in the largest markets in South America. In 2013, RWL Water bought Unitek (now known as RWL Water Argentina), which has gone on to secure several strategic contracts throughout Latin America.

RWL Water Brasil will work closely with RWL Water’s other international sister companies in Argentina, Italy, Israel and the United States to provide treatment solutions, including RWL Water’s state-of-the-art packaged and decentralized systems, to its existing and expanding customer base in Brazil.

“We are very excited to welcome Acquavit to the RWL Water family. This acquisition is a testimony to our confidence not only in our new partners, but in Brazil’s economy and its future growth potential. Brazil is facing significant water scarcity issues, rising electricity prices and wastewater problems and we believe our global experience in desalination, reuse and waste-to-energy solutions are of particular relevance,” said RWL Water president and CEO Henry Charrabé.

“There is a gap in the Brazilian market for innovative water reuse technologies and projects. We feel that joining RWL Water will greatly benefit Acquavit and our customers. RWL Water is undoubtedly leaving its mark across the globe; strategically acquiring specialized companies and new technologies in order to increase the water solutions within the middle market. We are extremely excited to join the RWL Water team as they expand in Brazil and globally,” said Alexandre Melo, Acquavit executive and shareholder.

Founded by Ronald S Lauder in 2010, New York-based RWL Water is a global water, wastewater and waste-to-energy solutions provider with operations in Latin America, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
