EPA requirements met with filter leak detector

The FilterSense detector has automatic self checks (zero and span) to automate the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) maximum achievable control technology requirements for periodic instrument validation.

The monitor also features automatic signal diagnostics to improve performance and simplify setup. This improves its induction-sensing and protected-probe technologies which can be more reliable than older opacity and triboelectic technologies, particularly in difficult applications such as coal, steel, cement, carbon black, lead smelters, chemical plants and pharmaceutical spray dryers, the company says.

Other benefits of the monitor include stack monitoring and detecting filter leaks for maintenance, which helps prevent the escape of valuable powders and protecting downstream equipment such as blowers and HEPA filters.
