Solso will be succeeded by Tom Linebarger, Cummins president and chief operating officer, from 1 January 2012.
Solso has had a 40-year career with Cummins and has led the company since 2000. Under Solso, sales have increased from US$6.6 billion in 2000 to US$13.2 billion in 2010.

He has the energy, experience and business know-how Cummins needs to compete in our markets around the world,” said Solso.
Linebarger will be only the sixth executive to lead Cummins since it was founded in 1919.
