Asian cleanroom purchases to reach US$7.5 billion

The updated McIlvaine report also suggests that Asian cleanroom hardware purchases, including cleanrooms, walls, floors, filters, HVAC, instrumentation and floors, could reach US$2.9 billion in 2015, up from US$2.3 billion in 2011. Consumable purchases in Asia will reach US$4.6 billion up from US$3.7 billion in 2011.

One reason for this is that by 2015 semiconductor manufacturing will be concentrated in Asia, McIlvaine suggests, with 74% of the production and 70% of the revenues generated in the continent. Some 78% of the world’s semiconductor cleanroom hardware purchases will be for Asian chip fabrication facilities, and by 2015 the cleanroom consumables purchases in Asia will be greater than those of the entire world in 2010, with equipment and consumables supplied by a mix of Asian and non-Asian companies.
