When complete, it will be the third largest seawater desalination plant in the Americas, and the first of its kind in Texas.
The plant will deliver 30 million gallons (113 million liters) per day of potable water. It will be among the world's most efficient desalination facilities, delivering high-quality potable water with the lowest possible energy consumption. Construction is expected to start in early 2026, with completion scheduled for 2028.
“As an American company with deep roots in desalination, delivering our technology for Texas’ first large-scale SWRO plant – and one of the largest in North America – is a real source of pride for Aquatech,” said Ravi Chidambaran, CTO & president at Aquatech. “This project’s unmatched energy efficiency, along with its innovative approach to mitigating biofouling and minimizing chemical use, will provide the Coastal Bend region with an affordable, drought-resilient water source of the highest quality.”
