The modules will remove water and impurities from heavy crude oil.
Alfa Laval says that due to the innovative design of the modules, it will be possible to reduce the water content down to about 1% after separation, compared with 10–20% using traditional methods, without the excessive use of heat and chemicals.
“This is an exciting new offshore installation for these uniquely designed separation modules for heavy crude oil,” said Lars Renström, president and CEO of Alfa Laval.
Delivery is scheduled for this year.
