  • Filter testing: Automatic Particle Counters and Fluid Contamination Monitors
Automatic Particle Counters and Fluid Contamination Monitors are widely used in filter testing and fluid contamination analysis laboratories and in industrial facilities to monitor filters and cleaning processes and machines. However, their roles and ways they are used need to be properly understood. Christophe Peuchot, Gerard J. Lynch and Nicolas Petillon of IFTS explain.
  • Filter testing: Particle counters for hydraulic and lubricating oils
The functionality of oils suffers when contaminated with particles. Filtration can play a key role in ensuring that hydraulic and lubricating systems are running effectively. Particle counting systems are now being developed to help provide key analysis. Dr. Juliane König-Birk of PAMAS GmbH explains.

e:Trainer online learning programme from Parker Hannifin

03 December 2009

The interactive online learning programme is designed to help OEMs and end users of hydraulic systems to improve system performance, productivity and profitability

The e:Trainer from Parker Hannifin provides a simple method of helping engineers understand the problems which can be caused by moisture or particle contamination and the latest solutions which are available. Topics covered include, hydraulic fluid basics, the sources of particle contamination, water contamination and the ways in which contamination can cause damage to different system components.

Once users have successfully completed the online e-learning modules they are able to register free of charge for Parker’s residential courses that are run throughout Europe and which explore different aspects of filtration technology in considerable detail. Users can then use this knowledge to assess their own systems, to identify possible areas of weakness and improve the cleanliness and reliability of equipment by installing effective filtration solutions.

John Botley, marketing manager for Parker’s Hydraulic Filter Division Europe said: “The new online learning facility is an important and exciting new initiative that allows us to share our extensive knowledge of contamination and filtration with our customers throughout the world, through a carefully structured yet easy to use interactive process. Perhaps as importantly, this is a unique facility that will appeal to anyone with an interest in improving the reliability of hydraulic systems or a desire to learn more about this often overlooked area of technology.”
