Compact SFD system removes oil, contaminants and water from compressed air

30 November 2009

The compact SFD (Separator Filter Dryer) system from SKF can treat a compressed air stream directly from the tanks, eliminating the need for after coolers, additional external filters and other equipment

Accommodating a range of air system requirements and flow rates, the compact SFD provides uninterrupted operation, even in dusty or dirty conditions. The compact SFD from SKF can withstand high or low ambient temperatures, making it suitable for a range of industrial applications including concrete plants, warehouse operations, automotive paint booths and other manufacturing facilities.

The compact SFD can be installed by plugging into a standard 12, 24 or 120 V AC, while a fully pneumatic version is also available, which requires no electricity at all. No condensate drain line is needed with either model and there is no heat exchanger to clean or maintain. The compact design of the system allows it to be discretely installed directly on the tank, the compressor top plate, or onto the wall.

The compact SFD unit removes water from compressed air streams of pressures up to 180 psi and an optional internal filtration/oil separator system also removes oil and filters out contaminants as small as 0.1 micron. The SFD unit can be specified with or without the internal filtration option for 5, 7.5, 10, 15 or 20 horsepower applications.
