Millipore awarded Corporate Citizen of the Year

12 November 2009

Millipore Corp has been named “Corporate Citizen of the Year” by the New England Clean Energy Council.

Millipore's commitment to reducing its global carbon footprint was recognized as an outstanding achievement by the New England Clean Energy Council.

“We firmly believe that as a multinational corporation, we have an opportunity and a responsibility to demonstrate environmental leadership through clean energy. Adopting environmentally friendly practices is not only the right thing to do - we see many business benefits from adopting energy efficiency initiatives and renewable energy technologies. It is my hope that more companies will start to transform by integrating sustainability principles into their operating practices, helping to mitigate the risks of global climate change we all face,” said Millipore president and CEO Martin Madaus.

In 2008, Millipore announced an ambitious multi-year environmental effort aimed at reducing the company’s global carbon footprint by 20% over five years.
