  • Hydraulic fluids: Controlling contamination in hydraulic fluids
The operating environment of much modern hydraulic equipment creates an increased risk of damage due to hydraulic fluid contamination. Advanced filtration technology allows this risk to be mitigated without reducing productivity. A view from Parker Hannifin's European Hydraulic Filtration and Fluid Condition Monitoring Division.
  • Filters in pharmaceuticals: Automating the characterisation of foreign particulates
Counting and classifying foreign particulate materials on filters is essential in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Traditional techniques are lengthy and difficult. Ulf Willén of Malvern Instruments describes an automated method for improved statistical sampling.
  • Filter testing: Automatic Particle Counters and Fluid Contamination Monitors
Automatic Particle Counters and Fluid Contamination Monitors are widely used in filter testing and fluid contamination analysis laboratories and in industrial facilities to monitor filters and cleaning processes and machines. However, their roles and ways they are used need to be properly understood. Christophe Peuchot, Gerard J. Lynch and Nicolas Petillon of IFTS explain.
  • Engine filtration: Effective maintenance is the key to optimal performance
Parker Hannifin's Hydraulic Filter Division Europe looks at the importance of effective hydraulic oil and diesel filtration for extremely demanding industrial applications and highlights the latest developments in portable filtration technology.
  • Removing hydrogen sulphide from water
A UK water bottling facility decided to implement monitoring controls for hydrogen sulphide. Six easy-to-operate dissolved sulphide monitors were selected which generate results in real time and require little maintenance. Optimum product quality was assured through the detection and removal of any traces of hydrogen sulphide in the water, by taste or odour.

TD instrument for gas chromatography in high-throughput laboratories

06 November 2009

Incorporating sample re-collection for repeat analysis, the TD-100 from Markes International Ltd can detect traces of toxic and odorous chemicals in air/gas and materials.

The TD-100 is a high capacity instrument capable of the sequential analysis of up to 100 sorbent tubes and includes RFID sample sorbent tube tracking technology (TubeTAG) as standard.

Applications for the TD-100 include materials emissions testing, environmental/indoor air monitoring, workplace air monitoring, food, flavour and fragrance profiling, civil defence and forensics.
