BWT acquires pharmaceutical water business

17 July 2009

BWT Group has purchased the pharmaceutical water activities of the Christ Water Technology Group, including a 49% stake in the biopharma and bioprocess technology provider Zeta.

The business has around 200 employees and annual consolidated sales of approximately €35 million. BWT adds that it now offers solutions for pure- and ultra-pure water, water for injection purposes, sterile steam, cleaning systems (CIP/SIP), pharmaceutical waste water treatment and a range of services under the brand name ‘Christ Aqua’.
In addition to its existing sites in Switzerland, Germany, Sweden and Ireland, BWT now has facilities in China and India, as well as a collaborative venture in the USA. BWT says that this will provide it with access to important markets outside Europe. Additionally, the 49% stake in Zeta offers interesting future potential opportunities in the biopharma business, says BWT.
