Filling bell assembly captures airborne contaminants

30 June 2009

Meissner has introduced a filling bell assembly on its line of capsule filters.

The assembly guards against airborne contaminants when used with capsules to filter liquids into roller bottles, flasks, or other receptacles. Meissner adds that the integral capsule filter and filling bell are ideal for filtration and aseptic filling of critical fluids such as tissue culture media, biologicals and other pharmaceutical preparations.
Composed of polycarbonate material, Meissner says that the filling bell is more durable and shatter-resistant than glass assemblies. Its transparent nature also allows operators to see through it in order to position vessels being filled.
The filling bell option is offered on capsules with effective filtration areas of 300 cm2, 500 cm2, 1000 cm2 or 2000 cm2. The Meissner assembly is available on capsules with a choice of pleated filter media in polypropylene microfibre, glass microfibre, PVDF, PES, PTFE or polypropylene, with retention ratings from 0.04 μm to 99 μm. The capsule filter and filling bell are also available in a gamma-irradiated version to ensure sterility.
Meissner manufactures advanced microfiltration products, including single-use biocontainer assemblies, for the sterilisation of drugs, reagents, and other critical biomanufacturing/pharmaceutical applications. Meissner provides complete validation services, documentation and customer support to optimise filtration systems. Meissner’s global customer base is serviced through a worldwide network of both factory-trained local distributors and factory personnel.
