Donaldson develop filtration products for the medical device industry

17 June 2009

Donaldson have developed a range of filter media and filtration devices to support the medical device industry.

Aware that the the performance of filter media can affect the success of the medical device, in terms of protection against bacteria and resistance to leakage, Donaldson have developed filter media that can assist with extending the life of the device.

Donaldson's Tetratex® ePTFE membrane has sub-micron particulate capture capabilities that can repel liquids whilst allowing effective gas exchange, making it ideal for a range of medical device products. Specifically engineered to provide complete protection against the most demanding medical device conditions, the benefits of Tetratex membrane include: hydrophobic permeable water barrier; biocompatibility; thermal stability; chemical inertness; a non-shedding, minimal extractable construction and proven bacterial challenge.

The Tetratex ePTFE membrane combined with an activated carbon media provides a combination of adsorption to stop leakages, to provide ventilation, breathability and odour control technology.

Donaldson can also provide a complete venting solution: cut-to-size parts as well as complete filter assemblies. Filter assemblies can help to reduce device manufacturing costs.
