Protesa to install piping at desalination plant

25 November 2011

Protesa, a Spanish manufacturer of GRP (glass fibre reinforced polyester) pipes, has been awarded a contract for the supply and installation of GRP piping in Israel’s Sorek desalination plant.

Protesa will design, manufacture, install and provide related engineering services for its GRP piping and fittings, providing a total length of pipe of 2,900 m in diameter ranging from 25 to 2200 mm.
The Sorek plant, which on completion will be the world’s second largest, will use reverse osmosis technology to reach a capacity of 510,000m3/day, catering for 65% of Israel’s drinking water consumption.
The project is led by the Sorek Desalination Partnership, formed by IDE Technologies and Hutchison Water International Holdings Pte.
