The desalination plant, which will adopt Multi-Effect Distillation (MED) technology and produce 54 000 tons of fresh water per day, will be constructed in the Yanbu region, 350 km northwest of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction will execute the project on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. The desalination plant is scheduled for completion in March 2014.
